Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Welcome to the Novel Action web site (hereinafter the "Site"). Your online privacy is important and we take it seriously. This privacy statement ("Privacy Statement") explains our privacy policies including which information we collect and how we may use it. Within this Privacy Statement, the terms "we," "us," "our," and "Novel Action," refer to Novel Action, while the terms "You" and “Your” refer to you, as a user of this site.

You may visit this Site anonymously as often as you like without providing any personal information.  "Personal information" means information that identifies you or could reasonably be used to identify you and which is submitted to and/or collected by the Site and maintained by Novel Action in an accessible form. Examples of personal information include your name, your postal address and your telephone number. We do not collect personally identifying information from you except when you specifically provide it.

Information Collected From Visitors
Non-members can access the Site’s home page, and other selected areas of the site, without disclosing any personal information. Through the use of technologies such as cookies, we do track information provided to us by your browser including the web site from which you entered (known as the referring URL), the type of browser you use, the time and date of access, and other information that does not personally identify you. In addition, we gather information about you that is automatically collected by our web server, such as your IP address and domain name.

Information Collected From Guests and Members of Novel Action
Membership is required to utilize the book exchange, custom alerts, chat room and most other features of the site.  Registered Guests can purchase books from the site. If you make the decision to become a member of Novel Action, or register as a guest, you will be asked to provide personal information, such as your name, gender, age range, email and postal addresses, and phone number. On both the member, and the guest registration pages, we clearly label which information is required for registration, and which information is optional and may be given at your discretion.  

The information required for guest registration and membership is used to allow you to access the areas of the site restricted to guests or members, respectively, and it allows us to provide you with customer service such as responding to your questions or your concerns, providing a receipt for your transaction, shipping requested items, and to otherwise service you and your account.  When there are contests or promotional incentives, this information may also be used to notify you if you win. Optional information that is collected may be used in aggregate so we can better target our site offerings, promotions and functionality.

Through the use of technologies such as cookies, we track information provided to us by your browser including the web site from which you entered, the type of browser you use, the time and date you accessed the site, and other information that does not personally identify you. In addition, we gather information about you that is automatically collected by our web server, such as your IP address and domain name. Novel Action may use web server and browser information to individually customize its offerings and presentations to you if you submit your personal information.  We also collect information that you voluntarily provide to us through your responses to surveys, questionnaires, testimonials, contact us/feedback, and similar avenues. This information may be utilized either in aggregate, or, for example, in the case of a testimonial, reprinted on the website.  When information is reprinted, your initials or username, and state of residence will be used to reference the testimonial.  If you choose to use our tell a friend function to inform a friend about our Site, you will be asked for your friend's name and email address as well as your name and email address. The form automatically sends your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the site. The sender receives nothing from us.  We do not access or store this information, except to send this invitation.

We reserve the right to disclose your personal information to respond to authorized information requests from government authorities, to address national security situations, or when otherwise required by law.

Your Privacy Choices
We do not currently send regular news letters or promotional emails to our members.  Members may easily opt-out of receiving any emails from Novel Action at any time, either by following the instructions in the emails you receive or selecting the "Do not receive emails" option in the member settings area of  your "My Account" page. Guest can opt out either by following the instructions in the emails received, or by sending an email to the privacy manager.  Guests and members can also change or update contact information at any time by accessing the "My Account" page.  If you elect not to receive emails from us, note that you will not receive any emails related to Novel Action business operations (e.g., notification of website maintenance, change in policies, etc.);you must access the Site periodically to review the privacy policy and terms of use.


Children's Policy
Novel Action is for use by adults aged 18 and older.  We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. We do not collect personally identifiable information from any person we actually know is a child under the age of 18. See our Terms of Use for more information.

Notification Regarding Material Updates to the Privacy Statement
Novel Action reserves the right to amend this Privacy Statement at any time without prior notice. If we change our privacy practices, a new Privacy Statement will reflect those changes and be posted on the Site. In the event that material changes are made to the Privacy Statement, we will attempt to notify you and other guests and members of this site by sending a notice to the primary email address provided to us. If you elect not to receive emails, please visit the Site periodically to review this policy.   The effective date of the revised Privacy Statement will be set forth in this paragraph. This Privacy Statement was last updated on January 25, 2008, and is effective as of that date.
