Chapter 18: Hearing is believing
Chapter 18: Hearing is believing
Lin Rusi felt a little tired. The thought of marrying him and having to be this tired every day made her look listless.
"What's wrong? Are you a little tired?"
Lin Rusi quickly shook her head, her little head bobbing like a rattle-drum, "No."
"I had a very pleasant chat with Your Highness, and I'm a little reluctant to leave."
What was meant as a polite remark was taken aback when King Bei Jinglie went along with her words, saying, "Then let's chat a little longer."
Lin Rusi: "..."
"It seems that Your Highness also enjoys chatting with my daughter."
Lin Rusi took a slightly embarrassed sip of tea and cleared her throat.
"Lin Rusi".
When Prince Jinglie suddenly called her name, Lin Rusi's heart skipped a beat, and she felt uneasy all over.
Even so, she still looked up, a warm smile on her face, "What is Your Highness doing? You suddenly called my name, I'm a little embarrassed."
King Jinglie stared intently into her eyes, then leaned his upper body closer to Lin Rusi.
"is it?"
"An ordinary woman would blush if she were shy, so why are you so indifferent?"
His question stumped Lin Rusi.
Why does this King Jinglie always say such strange things?
Lin Rusi's smile remained unchanged as she calmly responded, "Everyone is different. My daughter is rather reserved and not very good at expressing her feelings."
King Jinglie couldn't help but chuckle, "Really?"
"In this light, it is indeed 'reserved'."
He deliberately emphasized the last two words, leaving Lin Rusi completely bewildered and unable to grasp the meaning.
She was increasingly unable to understand King Jinglie. He could change his mind faster than turning the pages of a book, and his thinking was always quick, always one step ahead of others.
For someone like that, all you need to do is keep up with their leaps of thought.
Lin Rusi steadied herself and forced herself to calm down.
She had just calmed down when King Jinglie dropped a bombshell unexpectedly.
"You are special."
Lin Rusi almost spat out the tea she had just drunk.
She forced herself to swallow it, but because she swallowed it so suddenly, she accidentally choked on it.
She frowned, covered her mouth, and began to cough violently.
King Jinglie kindly offered a handkerchief, "Were you frightened by my words?"
He smiled warmly, "Compared to the other women I have met, you are indeed unique."
Although Lin Rusi kept her true self hidden, Li Jingyang could still discern some clues from her composed responses and demeanor.
This prince was rumored to be violent and bloodthirsty, and ordinary women would be afraid of him.
Lin Rusi, on the other hand, did not; even her timid and submissive demeanor was an act.
He could tell that Lin Rusi had been on edge ever since she came in, and that she was pushing and pulling him back and forth.
Lin Rusi awkwardly wiped her mouth. "Your Highness is too kind. My daughter is just an ordinary girl."
When she looked up again, King Jinglie's face, which was enough to captivate all living beings, suddenly magnified dozens of times.
She held her breath, her pupils reflecting the exquisite features of Prince Jinglie.
What is he going to do now?
Lin Rusi straightened her body and leaned back to create distance between herself and Prince Jinglie.
King Jinglie wore an enigmatic smile. "Why aren't you afraid of me? Haven't you heard the rumors about me?"
Lin Rusi pursed her lips and nodded like a chick pecking at rice, "I've heard of it, but it's just a rumor."
As the saying goes, seeing is believing, hearing is deceiving.
"My daughter only believes what she sees with her own eyes."
"Aside from his good looks, the prince is no different from anyone else."
King Jinglie laughed heartily, "Interesting, interesting."
