Chapter 114 Welcome to the New World
Chapter 114 Welcome to the New World
Meanwhile, outside the cell, Abu had already moved on to the next cell.
Unbeknownst to him, a conspiracy against him was quietly unfolding.
Little did he know that his fate was about to undergo a dramatic change.
"Dinner's ready!" Abu opened the cell door and brought the food in.
“Thank you, Abu,” said one of the white dragon prisoners. “You’re a good person.”
“Don’t say that,” Abu smiled. “I just did what I was supposed to do.”
“No, you are different,” the white dragon prisoner said. “You are different from all the other white dragons.”
“What’s different?” Abu asked.
“You…” the white dragon prisoner thought for a moment and said, “You are more humane.”
"Human touch?" Abu was taken aback. "What does that mean?"
“It’s just that…” the white dragon prisoner said, “you are more like a human being than a… a cold, lifeless object.”
"An object?" Abu laughed. "I wasn't an object to begin with."
“I know,” the white dragon prisoner said, “but the other white dragons, they feel to me like cold, hard objects.”
"Is that so?" Abu nodded thoughtfully. "Perhaps..."
“Abu,” the white dragon prisoner suddenly said, “could you do me a favor?”
"What kind of help?" Abu asked.
“I…” the white dragon prisoner hesitated for a moment before saying, “I want to see my family.”
"Your family?" Abu frowned. "I'm afraid that won't work. You know you're prisoners now and can't see people freely."
“I know,” said the white dragon prisoner, “but I really want to see them, even just once.”
“This…” Abu was somewhat embarrassed.
“Please, Abu,” the white dragon prisoner said. “I know you’re a good person, you’ll help me, won’t you?”
“I…” Abu looked at the white dragon prisoner, his heart filled with sympathy.
He knew that this white dragon prisoner was just an ordinary soldier who had not committed any unforgivable crimes.
He just wanted to see his family.
“Okay,” Abu sighed and said, “I’ll try my best to arrange it for you.”
"Really?" The white dragon prisoner exclaimed excitedly. "Thank you, Abu! You're so kind!"
“Don’t get too excited,” Abu said. “I’m just saying I’ll try. I can’t guarantee it will work.”
“It’s alright,” the white dragon prisoner said. “I’m already very grateful as long as you’re willing to help.”
“Yes,” Abu nodded, “I will do my best.”
Under normal circumstances, Abu should have left immediately.
As a result, the white dragon prisoner in Abu's eyes began to repeat the words they had spoken when they first met, only with different content.
What's even more outrageous is that Abu actually thinks this situation is perfectly normal; perhaps he's already quite abnormal.
“Thank you so much, Abu,” the white dragon prisoner said. “You are truly the best white dragon I have ever seen.”
“Don’t say that,” Abu smiled. “We are all of the same kind, and it is only right that we help each other, although this favor is a bit difficult, and I may not be able to complete it.”
“No, I believe you can do it,” the white dragon prisoner said. “Honestly, Abu, you’re unlike any other white dragon.”
“What’s different?” Abu asked.
“You…” the white dragon prisoner thought for a moment and said, “You possess qualities that others don’t, such as humanity.”
"Human touch?" Abu was taken aback. "What does that mean? Aren't all the other white dragons the same?"
“How could that be? It’s completely different…” the white dragon prisoner said. “Compared to you, they are like warriors, with cold armor on their bodies or cold swords in their hands. They don’t care about your feelings at all, and then they will cut you off with one stroke.”
“Uh…your analogy is so abstract, haha~” Abu laughed, “but you did remind me that I’m not like that.”
“I know,” the white dragon prisoner said. “I knew you would agree with me. You are the most extraordinary of all the white dragons. You are purer than the others.”
"Is that so?" Abu nodded thoughtfully. "Perhaps..."
“Abu,” the white dragon prisoner suddenly said, “we’ve talked so much, can you do me a favor?”
"What kind of help?" Abu asked.
“I…” the white dragon prisoner hesitated for a moment, then said, “I want… I want to escape.”
"Escape?" Abu's eyes widened. "How is that possible?"
“I know it’s difficult,” the white dragon prisoner said, “but I really don’t want to die here.”
“But…” Abu said, “This place is heavily guarded, there’s no way you can escape.”
“I know,” the white dragon prisoner said, “but I don’t want to give up as long as there is a glimmer of hope.”
“This…” Abu fell silent.
“Please, Abu,” the white dragon prisoner said, “help me. I promise I will never forget your kindness once I escape.”
“I…” Abu looked at the white dragon prisoner, his heart filled with conflict.
He knew that helping prisoners escape was a serious crime.
However, he didn't want to just watch this white dragon prisoner die here.
“Okay,” Abu sighed and said, “I’ll help you.”
"Really?" The white dragon prisoner exclaimed excitedly. "Thank you, Abu! You're so kind!"
“Don’t be so happy so soon. I’ve heard that this kind of situation can easily lead to problems later on!” Abu said. “Besides, I only said I would help you, but I didn’t say how I would help. If you can’t do it, then there’s nothing I can do.”
“No problem,” the white dragon prisoner said. “I’m already very happy as long as you’re willing to help me.”
“Hehe, you overestimate me,” Abu nodded, “but I will do my best.”
“You are truly the best white dragon in the world, thank you Abu,” said the white dragon prisoner. “I will never forget your kindness.”
It was another repetition, except that the prisoner's demands kept changing.
"Haha, really?" Abu chuckled. "Then if I have the chance, I'll definitely make you repay this favor."
"Yes, of course, I will definitely do it, but unfortunately I am about to die..." The white dragon prisoner's mood became depressed as he spoke, "If only I could be like you."
“Aren’t we any different? It’s just that we made different choices,” Abu comforted him.
“You…I…” the white dragon prisoner thought for a moment and said, “Of course not. I saw something in you that makes you different from the other white dragons.”
"What is that??" Abu was taken aback. "What does this mean?"
“You wouldn’t understand…” the white dragon prisoner said. “You just need to know that we were different from the moment we were born, and our fates could never be the same.”
"Different fates?" Abu laughed. "Hahaha~ Brother, you still believe in this stuff? Who would believe in something so mystical?"
“I know,” the white dragon prisoner said, “but please believe me, this is fate, and you will understand eventually.”
“Is that so?” Abu nodded thoughtfully. “Perhaps… but I still don’t believe in fate. I only believe in myself.”
“Abu,” the white dragon prisoner suddenly said, “if I ask you for a favor, will you do it for me?”
“You’re a prisoner now, how can I help you?” Abu asked.
“I…” the white dragon prisoner hesitated for a moment, then said, “I want… I want…”
"What are you thinking?" Abu asked.
“I want…” the white dragon prisoner said, “I want… I want…”
"What exactly are you trying to say?" Abu asked impatiently.
“I want…” the white dragon prisoner finally mustered his courage and said, “I want… I want you to take me to that special cell…”
"What?" Abu's eyes widened immediately. "What are you going there for?"
“I…” the white dragon prisoner said, “I want to go there… and see…”
"Look?" Abu frowned. "What's there to see?"
“I…” the white dragon prisoner said, “I was just… curious…”
"Curious?" Abu sneered. "You'd better not have any ulterior motives, or I won't let you off the hook."
“I…I understand,” the white dragon prisoner said. “I just…wanted to go and see…”
“Okay,” Abu said, “I can take you there, but you have to promise me you won’t do anything reckless.”
“I promise,” said the white dragon prisoner, “I will not do anything reckless.”
“That’s good,” Abu said. “Come with me.”
So Abu led the white dragon prisoner toward the deepest part of the prison.
Meanwhile, in that special cell, Kemenridge was quietly waiting.
A smug smile crept across his lips.
"The show is about to begin..."
In the cell where Abu had just been, a white dragon prisoner stared at Abu with a bewildered expression, wondering why the guy had been talking to thin air. He scratched his head and didn't bother with it anymore; after all, he was a dragon destined to die anyway.
If someone were to observe Abu's eyes closely at this moment, they would see that Abu's eyes now possess the pupils unique to the wolf clan.
How could a white dragon possibly possess the pupils of a wolf?
Therefore, Abu had been successfully assimilated by Kemenridge at this point. This was a suppression under the same power. Regardless of who was stronger or weaker, as long as my status was higher than yours, you would be suppressed and controlled. This kind of power was just that domineering.
Abu slowly approached the door of the special building. In his view, he had come with another white dragon prisoner, but the person who opened the door was not him, but the other white dragon prisoner.
He showed absolutely no concern because Kemenridge had successfully altered his subconscious, relegating important matters to the status of unimportant ones. Consequently, Abu's independent consciousness did not raise any doubts or warnings about this phenomenon.
Abu's hand had just touched the latch, and before he could even apply force, a sudden force struck the back of his neck. He didn't even feel pain; everything went black, and he lost consciousness, collapsing to the ground. The dull thud echoed in the empty corridor and clearly reached the ears of the eleven prisoners in the cell.
"It's Bowen!" The priest was the first to react. A hint of surprise flashed in his weathered eyes, but it was quickly replaced by determination. "I knew he wouldn't die so easily. He really will come back!"
"Bowen? That guy who always wears a mask and appears out of nowhere? Damn it! How can that beast, that ingrate, still be alive? Shouldn't he be dead by now?" Hammer asked in a gruff voice, veins bulging on his thick arms, clearly ready for a fight. "How come he's here?"
“This is not the time to discuss this!” Kemenridge growled in a low voice, his eyes fixed on the iron gate as if trying to see right through it. “Whatever Bowen intends to do, we must prepare for the worst!”
Enlightenment, Sainthood, Gale, Piety, and the others gathered around, their faces grave. They knew that the appearance of Broad Knowledge meant their plans had taken a turn for the worse, and that this change could be fatal.
Just then, a soft footstep sound came from the corridor outside the cell, growing clearer as it approached. The hearts of the eleven prisoners leaped into their throats. They held their breath, strained their ears, and carefully tried to discern the source of the footsteps.
The footsteps stopped at the cell door, and then a gentle yet familiar voice rang out: "Gentlemen, how have you been?"
Upon hearing the sound, the eleven prisoners all showed expressions of astonishment. They looked at each other, seemingly wondering if there was something wrong with their ears.
"Knowledgeable?" Kemenridge asked tentatively, a hint of disbelief in his voice. "Is it really you?"
“Of course it’s me.” Bowen’s voice carried a hint of amusement, seemingly finding the prisoners’ reactions quite amusing. “What, aren’t you welcoming me?”
"You... how could you..." Manchui stammered, his massive body trembling slightly.
“I know you have many questions,” Bowen interrupted Manchui, gently knocking on the iron door of the cell, making a clanging sound. “However, now is not the time for reminiscing; we have more important things to do.”
As he spoke, Bowen took out an exquisite black box from his pocket. The box was engraved with intricate patterns and emitted a faint glow. He placed the box on the ground, formed a mudra with his hands, and muttered incantations.
As Bowen chanted, the patterns on the black box began to flow, and the light grew brighter and brighter. Finally, a dazzling beam of light shot up from the box, enveloping the entire cell.
The eleven prisoners were stunned by this sudden turn of events. They stared blankly at the pillar of light, speechless for a moment.
“This is…” Kemen Richie murmured to himself, a complex light flickering in his eyes, as if he had remembered something.
"The Gate of Time and Space." Bowen's voice echoed from within the pillar of light, carrying a hint of something enigmatic. "It can take us anywhere we want to go."
"Where are you taking us?" the priest asked in a deep voice, his hand gripping the pendant on his chest tightly, as if praying for divine protection.
“A safe place,” Bowen replied, his figure gradually blurring in the pillar of light. “A place without war, without imprisonment, without suffering.”
"A safe place?" Manchui sneered. "Where in this world is there a safe place? And where is there an ingrate like you who dares to say that such a place exists?"
"Yes," Bowen's voice was firm and powerful. "As long as we are united, we will surely find our own paradise."
As soon as he finished speaking, the beam of light suddenly contracted, transforming into a huge vortex that swallowed everything in the cell.
When the eleven prisoners opened their eyes again, they found themselves in an unfamiliar place. Here, birds sang, flowers bloomed, and trees provided ample shade. A clear stream meandered through the area, and in the distance, a majestic mountain rose abruptly, piercing the clouds.
“Where is this…” Kaimen Rich looked around, his eyes filled with confusion.
"Welcome to the new world." Bowen's voice came from behind. He removed his mask, revealing a warm smile. "This is a gift I've prepared for you, a brand new beginning."
