Chapter 122 Bringing her food
Chapter 122 Bringing her food
Lin Xuan ignored Qin Songbai's entanglement and walked straight towards his car.
Qin Songbai couldn't help but follow him. Standing beside the car, he saw Lin Xuan looking at him coldly through the half-lowered window: "Is your car still hanging there?"
Qin Songbai suddenly realized that he had also driven here. As soon as he opened the car door, Lin Xuan's car passed by like a gust of wind and disappeared into the night.
Qin Songbai shook his head helplessly and thought to himself: This guy is too unkind. I wanted to have a drink with him.
After leaving Ye Wanqing's residence, Lin Xuan drove straight to the Lin residence. It was already dark, and the clock had quietly reached ten o'clock. Mrs. Lin was already getting ready for bed, and a tranquil atmosphere permeated the house.
The housekeeper was quite surprised to see Lin Xuan return: "Master, I thought you would stay outside tonight."
Lin Xuan looked up at the upstairs: "Is mother asleep?"
"Not yet. I'll go tell Mrs. Lin that you're back." The housekeeper said as he turned to leave.
Lin Xuan gently pressed the tip of his slightly red nose: "No need, I'll go up and see my mother myself."
"Okay, young master." The housekeeper responded and then turned to go to the kitchen to instruct the aunt to prepare breakfast for tomorrow.
Lin Xuan was wearing thin clothes when he went out, so he couldn't help but shudder when he reached Mrs. Lin's door. He stood at the door and adjusted himself for a moment. After the sneezing stopped, he gently knocked on the door: "Mother."
"Come in." Mrs. Lin's voice was gentle and kind.
Mrs. Lin was old and always left her door ajar when she went to bed at night. Lin Xuan pushed the door open and saw that Mrs. Lin had put on a soft sweater and was about to get up.
"I thought you wouldn't be back tonight." Mrs. Lin said with a smile.
"Everything has been handled." Lin Xuan responded.
Mrs. Lin knew her grandson well. Lin Xuan always maintained a nonchalant attitude towards worldly affairs, rarely worrying about anything other than the Lin family's affairs. But tonight, she caught a glimpse of something unusual in his departing figure.
She patted the empty seat beside her and motioned Lin Xuan to sit down. Lin Xuan sat down as she was told and continued, "It's not about the company, it's about Ye Wanqing."
Mrs. Lin frowned slightly when she heard this: "What happened to Ye Wanqing?"
"On her way home, she encountered a distracted driver. In order to avoid him, her car hit the guardrail on the side of the road." Lin Xuan narrated calmly.
"Is he okay?" Mrs. Lin asked nervously.
"He's fine, just his left leg is injured and broken." Lin Xuan replied.
"It's really a disaster. She needs to take good care of her broken leg. The New Year is almost here." Mrs. Lin sighed distressedly, and then said, "Her leg is injured, so it's inconvenient for her to come and give me a massage."
"I have already discussed it with her. I will send her over." Lin Xuan said.
Mrs. Lin glanced at Lin Xuan and said, "You are quite considerate."
Lin Xuan's eyes remained calm: "It's my duty."
"She lives alone and is now injured, so her life must be very inconvenient. Why not let her move in so that we can take care of her," Mrs. Lin suggested.
Lin Xuan's eyes flickered slightly: "She might not agree."
Mrs. Lin chuckled. "That's right. If it were me, I might not be willing to do that either. But you can try to persuade her."
She handed the sweater to Lin Xuan and motioned him to hang it up: "Okay, I got it. It's getting late, you should eat something and go to bed early."
Lin Xuan took the sweater and gently hung it on the coat rack, secretly thinking about how to persuade Ye Wanqing.
After Mrs. Lin lay down safely, she looked at Lin Xuan with a complicated look in her eyes: "You seem to be particularly concerned about Ye Wanqing."
Lin Xuan shook his head slightly: "If she hadn't agreed to give you a massage, perhaps this accident wouldn't have happened."
Mrs. Lin snorted softly after hearing this: "So, it's my fault, isn't it?"
"I have no such intention. Don't worry, mother. Just have a good rest. I'll leave first." Lin Xuan said as he tucked in the quilt for Mrs. Lin, then quietly left the room.
Mrs. Lin looked at the slowly closing door, a helpless smile curling up at the corner of her mouth: "This temper is exactly the same as his father's when he was young, stubborn and hard."
Lin Xuan walked down the stairs slowly and happened to meet Lin Yanrong who was walking out of the ancestral hall. Lin Yanrong had been kneeling in the ancestral hall for a long time. Her legs were still shaking and her face was slightly pale.
Seeing Lin Xuan, she couldn't help but call out, "Brother."
Lin Xuan's gaze lingered on her for a moment, his tone unquestionable: "Be more polite to Ye Wanqing in the future, and don't let me find out that you have any inappropriate thoughts. Otherwise, it won't be as simple as it is today."
Lin Yanrong's face changed slightly when she heard this, but thinking of the punishment she had received in the ancestral hall, she didn't dare to say anything more. She just whispered, "I understand, brother."
"Go eat something, don't starve yourself." Lin Xuan said lightly.
Before he finished speaking, the butler came out of the kitchen carrying lunch: "Master, Miss, come and have your meal."
The weather was cold and Lin Yanrong was already starving. She glanced at Lin Xuan and then quickly walked to the dining table.
Lin Shuhuai walked out of the study and waited for Lin Yanrong to finish her meal before giving her another lecture, using harsh and merciless words.
Ye Wanqing, however, tossed and turned that night, unable to sleep. After the effects of the medicine wore off, the pain in her legs surged like a tide, making it difficult for her to fall asleep.
Qin Zhuyu had important work to do the next day. When she got up in the morning, she saw Ye Wanqing still sleeping, so she checked on her quietly, left a bowl of warm porridge and a note, and then hurried to the company.
When Ye Wanqing woke up, it was almost noon. Snowflakes were falling outside the window, and her phone was filled with unread messages and missed calls, but she had no intention of replying to any of them.
The porridge Qin Zhuyu had cooked for her on time had already become soft and delicious, just what she was craving. Because she had gotten up late, it was almost noon when Ye Wanqing finished her porridge.
The pain in her calf left her too exhausted to cook lunch, so she opted to order takeout. When the doorbell rang, she assumed it was the takeout, so she carefully climbed down the stairs, holding onto the handrail.
The snow was still falling, and she couldn't hold an umbrella. The door, which was usually just a few steps away, seemed out of reach today. When she saw Lin Xuan standing outside, she couldn't help but be stunned for a moment: "Lin Xuan? Why are you here?"
"Mother is worried that you have no lunch, so she asked me to bring you some food." Lin Xuan said, raising the thermos box in his hand.
Ye Wanqing glanced at the insulated box in his hand and bit her lip lightly: "Come in quickly."
"I'll help you with your things." Lin Xuan said as he opened the umbrella, stepped to her side, and raised the umbrella over her head to block the falling snowflakes for her.
Ye Wanqing looked at him and wanted to refuse: "I can do it myself..."
"Take it." Lin Xuan handed the umbrella and the thermal box to her without hesitation, and then with a slight force, he picked her up sideways.
Lin Xuan walked steadily and entered the villa in just a few steps. The stairs were just a blink of an eye.
