Chapter 905: Chaos
Chapter 905: Chaos
"This world is truly bizarre."
Lu Lu'er huddled on the sofa, complaining, while Qin Xiaoman, with her eyes closed, seemed to be deducing something. Her brows were furrowed, and she was facing difficulties, unable to see the way forward. As for Bing Fei'er, she was writing and drawing at the table in a snow-white bathrobe.
Chen Futu asked Ge Fei beside him, "How is the situation outside lately?"
"Husband, don't worry. Those who just joined at the foot of the mountain are all very well-behaved and no one is causing trouble. As for the team on the mountain, the acid rain is still falling, so they can't go out. But Fei'er has already assigned the team, and Uncle Jiang is also making an energy rain gear that can resist acid rain, so at least night patrols won't be a problem."
"Alright, get the equipment ready quickly. We need to patrol both up the mountain and down the mountain to prevent any unforeseen events from happening here as well."
Time flew by and night fell.
To make management easier, Chen Futu added extra single rooms on the top floor for them to live in.
Looking through the villa's floor-to-ceiling windows, the world outside Luanjie Mountain appears hazy and gray. The acid rain isn't particularly intense, but it still gives one a sense of foreboding.
“Chief, I suspect that acid rain may contain toxins.”
Bingfeier came to her side and said this.
Chen Futu asked suspiciously, "Why do you say that?"
“I checked the regional channel. Most of the people who have been attacked so far have been to forests and rainy places. I think this should be an attack similar to hallucination.”
"Hallucination? If it was really a hallucination, why did he die?"
"I don't know. I told my team members not to get involved in this heavy rain. People on the mountain may follow the rules, but it's hard to say about people down the mountain."
"Lets see."
Chen Futu stroked his chin, lost in thought.
Night fell quietly, and the rain grew heavier. Chen Futu lay on his luxurious bed, constantly watching the activity on the regional channel. He sent a message tonight saying that more people had been attacked, and then some people's avatars went dark shortly after sending the message. This was not a good omen.
"Is my husband worried about Sister Qin and the others?" Consort Ge nestled in his arms, as docile as a cat.
Chen Futu nodded, looking lost and dejected.
Having been in the Celestial World for so long and paid a huge price to learn about Ling'er's situation, I know nothing about anyone else.
Although he didn't want to admit it, the longer Chen Futu spent in the Celestial World, the more uncertain he became.
In such a vast world, finding someone is no easy task.
While he was pondering, Red Deer sent a message: "Chief, there's trouble down the mountain. I'll take some men to check it out."
"Take the rain gear that Uncle Jiang made and be careful."
"Rest assured, Chief, there shouldn't be any unexpected problems."
Not long after Honglu sent the message, Chen Futu heard footsteps outside fading away.
As dawn broke, chaos erupted within the Chaotic Mountain channel.
"Dead! Someone's dead!"
"There are monsters!"
"Someone, please save me—"
It was sent by people living in the area at the foot of the mountain; the message was jumbled, and then their profile pictures quickly went dark.
Upon seeing this scene, Chen Futu sat up with a start. Accompanied by the sound of wind and rain outside the window, the night became even more gloomy and ominous.
"Husband?" Consort Ge also woke up with a start.
Chen Futu said in a deep voice, "You go to sleep, I'll go out and take a look."
Ge Fei nodded, but did not say she wanted to go along, as she was afraid that something might happen and worry her husband.
Chen Futu picked up an umbrella that Uncle Jiang had sent, and as soon as he stepped outside, he saw Jiang Rumeng. She had also seen the news. As the chief’s bodyguard and maid, she would go wherever the chief went.
"Come, let's go out and have a look."
Chen Futu called out and led her out of the villa.
The streetlights atop Luanjie Mountain cast a dim, swaying light in the rain, and the windows of the nearby residential area were still lit, clearly indicating that no one could sleep.
Currently, a small team is patrolling wearing special raincoats made by Uncle Jiang, and everything is relatively stable.
"Greetings, Great Chief."
"You've worked hard, Chief."
The patrol team members passed by, all showing expressions of awe.
Chen Futu nodded to them and led Jiang Rumeng down the mountain path. It was a thousand or two kilometers from the top of the mountain to the bottom. Through the rain, they could see that the lights of the residential area below were very soft and everything seemed quiet. However, the regional channel was still chaotic, with avatars constantly going dark.
Chen Futu asked, "Red Deer, how is the situation?"
"Chief, we haven't found the murderer, but many people have indeed died. They were all killed by chainsaws; it was extremely gruesome."
"So many people live in one room or even one building down the mountain, and you're telling me no one saw it?"
"I'm sorry, no one saw the attacker, but based on the scene, the attacker broke down the door and killed everyone in the house. By the time others realized what was happening and came to see what was going on, the killer had already disappeared."
“That’s interesting. Be careful yourself. I’ll be right there.”
After saying that, Chen Futu grabbed Jiang Rumeng and teleported. In just a few moments, the two arrived at the residential area at the foot of the mountain.
The residential area has grown to the size of a small town, housing several thousand people. In reality, it consists of just a few bare buildings that have sprung up. These were constructed by Uncle Jiang using convenient modular containers, and they look rough and have a cyberpunk vibe.
"Brother Chen, I feel something's off. It's like something's hiding in the shadows."
Jiang Rumeng, holding an umbrella, glanced around in surprise.
Chen Futu remained silent, his gaze sweeping through the rain like that of a hawk, surveying everything around him.
Just then, Honglu ran over with several fully armed female team members. They were wearing raincoats and were completely covered up. Honglu was the one leading them.
With her leading the way, the group soon arrived at a building. Three rooms in the building had been attacked, and a dozen or so people had died. In addition, Red Deer had done a good job of sending everyone back to their rooms, and no one came out to join the commotion. Everyone was excitedly discussing in the group what strange thing had done it.
Chen Futu arrived at a doorway stained with blood. Looking up, the room was a gruesome sight, splattered with blood and flesh. The dead were all in more gruesome ways than the last, with heads rolling to the doorway. Their ashen faces were filled with terror, their eyes wide open. If it weren't for the horrific scene, Chen Futu would have suspected that they had been scared to death.
Red Deer said with a wry smile, "It's a pity they're all dead. We don't know what they did to be attacked."
Looking at the messy, huge footprints left on the blood-red floor, Chen Futu realized that the news about the Rain Night Butcher was not unfounded. But how did he manage to escape the sight of the patrol personnel?
Next, the group looked at the other rooms that had been attacked, and without exception, they were all covered in blood and disgusting.
"System, what's going on?" Chen Futu asked secretly.
The system replied, "The host needs to resolve this himself."
"I knew you'd get worse and worse."
"I know you still ask."
"Alright, alright, I guess I was just being nosy."
Chen Futu was helpless. Ever since the dog system said she had become a super intelligence, she seemed to have become a useless person.
"Great Chief, what should we do next?"
Honglu appeared nervous, her brows furrowing unconsciously.
