Chapter 632 Loss of Mother
Chapter 632 Loss of Mother
“Gantz…” the chief exclaimed in disbelief.
The mercenaries drew their guns and fired, but the lasers only left a shallow mark on the hard shell of the mech.
Ganz knelt on one knee, his massive body shielding his father and clansmen behind him, remaining motionless.
The soldiers following behind opened fire on the ground without saying a word, providing cover for Gantz and his men.
The blond man and the mercenaries were caught off guard and, due to the disparity in firepower, suffered several more casualties.
At this point, the mission was forgotten; survival was the most important thing. Both groups began to flee for their lives without looking back.
Even with mechanical assistance, two legs can't keep up with flying no matter how fast they are. They can only rely on the cover of leaves and the advantages of the terrain to constantly change direction and evade attacks.
Shells exploded nearby, and lasers followed closely behind. They dared not stop for a moment. One second they were playing the "hunter," and the roles were immediately reversed, with them becoming the "prey."
The blond man experienced firsthand what it felt like to be on the brink of death.
Just as the group was in despair, the hum of engines suddenly filled the sky. It was their own starship, which had been notified and was rushing to the scene.
"Captain! We're saved!"
The starship did not disappoint them, launching an attack on the Empire's mechs.
The soldiers nimbly dodged, then exchanged glances, nodded, and flew back.
The enemy reinforcements have arrived; it's futile to try and stop them. Continuing the fight is pointless. Besides, they weren't here to kill. Clearing the trash was just a side effect.
"Damn! I almost thought I was going to die here..." A team member sat on the ground, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead.
"What?! Mechs are popping up everywhere! Are they really going to go all out?!"
"You only saw the mecha, but you didn't see the huge thing following behind. If I'm not mistaken, its shape looks a bit like the G680."
"Really?! An empire?!"
"What's so surprising? The captain just noticed, didn't he?"
The blond man hummed in agreement: "They should have been in contact with this place for a long time."
The team members were somewhat stunned: "Then, we've been wandering around for half a year, how come we haven't run into them even once? And this time too, they're so backward, I thought they weren't interested at all."
"They were the first to discover 'super blood,' so they must know the benefits. How could they not be interested? As for why they lagged behind, don't you understand by looking at their scale?"
"That's not just being slow; they're clearly making thorough preparations! I reckon there's no team on this planet that can stand up to them."
The blond man listened to his teammates' conversation and felt extremely annoyed. He had thought it would be an easy win, but unexpectedly, a stumbling block had appeared out of nowhere.
As they were talking, the starship lowered the rope ladder. The men grabbed it one by one and were brought back into the cabin.
"Your Highness! Are you alright?!" The soldiers swarmed around him, asking with concern.
The blond man raised his hand, refusing the arm that was helping him, and then unfastened the buckles on his body one by one, removing the exoskeleton device.
"A minor external injury. Also, as I said, call me Captain when you're on a mission."
The soldier hesitated for a moment, then said somewhat guiltily, "Yes, sir!"
If Kane and Ryan had come down and seen this face, they would have recognized the man.
The third child of the federal president and his second wife, named Yves Theodore.
The president has a notorious womanizing reputation. His first wife died, his second wife divorced him, and his current First Lady is his third wife. In addition, he also has mistresses he keeps outside the marriage.
There are at least seven children officially recognized, and the number of illegitimate children is unknown.
His attitude towards his partner reveals that he doesn't have much affection for these children either. Therefore, Yves Theodore learned from a young age to fight for what he had. Only by making himself valuable could he obtain more resources.
He had served in the army for a long time and participated in numerous missions. This opportunity came to him by chance, and he didn't tell anyone.
He only brought 50 men with him, because he didn't want to disturb his brothers.
If he succeeds, his status will rise even higher, and he will be superior to his brothers in front of his father. If he fails, he will leave no evidence for others to criticize him.
These soldiers were all personally trained by him and were absolutely loyal to him.
So many people died at once, which saddened him.
Seventeen were killed by the Goodells, six were shot down by Imperial mechs, and only nine returned. Including the soldiers on the starship, a total of 27 remained.
There's no chance of winning against the Empire, but against other small fry, it's more than capable.
Now that things have come to this point, it's impossible for him to back out without gaining anything.
"Captain, what's our next step?"
Yves pondered for a moment, his eyes turning cold as he said, "The Gooders were scattered during their escape and are now scattered throughout the forest. Just grab a couple, and that'll be enough to get the clues we need."
"As for the Empire, we just need to be careful not to confront them directly."
"We have mechs too. As for starships, even with the massive weight of the G680, they aren't necessarily faster or more agile than us."
The soldiers were encouraged and gained confidence.
"Captain, what about the brothers who died..." a disheveled man asked.
Yves Theodore paused for a moment: "The Imperials shouldn't have left yet; now is not a good time to go back."
"Focus on the mission first, and then we can bring them back once everything is settled."
"Ok!"
Just as he expected, the Imperial soldiers were there, along with Kane and Ryan who arrived later, returned after the pursuit, and others.
Of course, the ultimate reason is still thanks to him.
There are too many bodies.
Kane and Ryan were stunned the moment they landed. The two brothers stood there dumbfounded, their emotions beyond words.
No one else tried to do it casually either.
They all stood quietly on the periphery, giving the poor young man some time and space.
My father was tortured to the point of near death. Relatives were either dead or crippled. Every glance revealed familiar faces, and a single step back would have trampled their corpses.
Overwhelmed with grief, Ganz knelt on the ground and howled angrily to the sky.
“Father…where is my mother…” Ganz’s voice trembled.
Despite his fear of the answer, he still wanted to know. What if...?
The chief looked somber, tears welling in his eyes.
He slowly turned his head and pointed in a direction.
Following his finger, Ganz's pupils contracted sharply. Everything before him became blurry, except for the image of his mother's death, so clearly and abruptly etched in his mind.
Ganz suddenly felt dizzy, as if he had fallen into a bottomless abyss, spinning and plummeting. A feeling of nausea welled up inside him, and it felt like something was churning in his stomach.
Finally, he braced himself with both hands on the ground and spat out a mouthful of blood.
