Chapter 627 The Catastrophe Approaches (Part 3)
"Amm! Amm! It hurts so much, waaaaaah..."
"Am I going to die?"
"slim Shady……"
Ganz jolted awake, his back and forehead drenched in cold sweat. Seeing the metal ceiling, he realized it had all been a dream.
He threw back the covers and sat up, the crimson scene in his mind still slowly pricking his nerves.
The starship had been traveling through space for two days and three nights, and today was its last day. He had such an ominous dream. Could it be a premonition for him?
Ganz frowned, his hands crumpling the blanket in his fists...
"Wei'er, wake up!"
"Good morning, Uncle Liu. Have you eaten yet?"
"I've eaten, I've eaten! You should go now! A batch of bread rolls just came out of the oven, they smell amazing." The blond-haired guy came out of the restaurant with one in his hand.
Xu Weiwei went inside, took a tray, and after getting her food from the self-service station, she went to find the cook wearing an apron to get a melon dessert for each person. When the cook saw that it was her, he poured the contents of one bowl into another, combined them into one serving, and placed it on her plate, winking and whispering, "If you're not satisfied, you can have more."
Xu Weiwei smiled sweetly: "Thank you."
"Little Vivi! Come sit here."
There are empty seats here too!
"Wei'er, come here~ Uncle doesn't like sweets~ Here, have this~"
"Huh?! You favor girls over boys, huh? I'm really hurting. You've never said anything like that to me before. Ryan, have you ever heard that?"
"No."
Kane and Ryan happened to enter the restaurant at that moment, and the two of them started talking in unison. The soldiers, who had been acting like "the wolf in sheep's clothing," instantly became much more obedient. How could they possibly kidnap a child in front of the parents?
Xu Weiwei walked up to Kane, chuckled twice, and called out "Brother".
Kane pulled out a chair for her so she could "sit here and eat first."
A short while later, the two brothers returned with their food and sat down opposite each other. Ryan picked up his bread roll and took a bite, enjoying it with his pepper sausage. Kane picked up his dessert bowl and offered it to the brothers opposite him, but his hand paused in mid-air.
"Isn't this weight a bit off between us?"
"hey-hey."
Ryan puffed out his cheeks: "Brother, aren't you going to eat it? If not, give it to me."
"roll."
Ryan's eyes lit up, and he quickly switched his and his sister's: "Girls shouldn't eat so many desserts. If you get fat, you'll keep saying you want to lose weight. Let your brother help you out."
"It's okay, bro, give it to him."
Kane withdrew his fist, looking disgusted, and said, "Does your family not feed you? You even have to fight with your sister for a bite to eat, how pathetic."
"Humph……"
The food on the starship was good. It consisted of a main course with three side dishes and a soup, a mix of meat and vegetables. It couldn't compare to what they cooked at home, but the three siblings weren't picky and finished it all.
"Did you see Ganz when you came?" Xu Weiwei asked.
“No, let’s go check his room later,” Kane said, glancing at the time. “It’s still early; he might not even be up yet.”
"Shouldn't we be there today? What's Gooddale like?" Ryan asked curiously, resting his chin on his hand.
He had never been there before, but his father and brothers had mentioned it repeatedly. After so many years of curiosity, he finally had the chance to see it for himself.
"Didn't we already see the photos?"
Although there was no internet during the years they were "stranded," the photo function of their personal computers still worked. They took occasional notes, and over eight years, they accumulated quite a few photos. On the night they returned home, they sat together and looked through these photos.
"That's different. Understanding a place isn't just about its appearance; it's also about its culture, customs, the local people's lifestyles, their personalities, and so on. I'm particularly curious about that priest—was he really that cool?"
"I want her to help me calculate whether I can surpass Zhou Liping in the future."
Who is Zhou Liping?
"The mecha engineer, an academician of the Empire's highest research institute, made a major breakthrough in the fields of brain cognitive pattern recognition and brain-computer collaborative control. She led the mecha from wearable to embedded systems. All subsequent research was based on the first generation, with each generation updating and improving upon it. She is the mother of the Empire's mecha."
Xu Weiwei immediately said, "My apologies. But brother, why are you so arrogant? What do other people's achievements have to do with you?"
Ryan looked in the mirror: "Really? You must be seeing things."
“I can answer this question without the priest’s intervention.” Xu Weiwei crossed her arms and leaned back on the stool.
"What do you mean? You've learned a couple of moves too?" Ryan leaned forward, his round eyes full of anticipation.
"No, but if I don't know Ms. Zhou Liping, do you think I don't know you? Dream on—"
Xu Weiwei stood up and whispered the last sentence into Ryan's ear.
All anyone saw was Ryan suddenly leap up, baring his teeth and claws, only to be pinned down by his brother, yelling, "Ah—! Selviel! Say that again if you dare! Stop right there!..."
Only a fool would listen to him. Xu Weiwei slipped away and ran off in a flash.
Others, unaware of the truth, rushed over to smooth things over, looking at Ryan disapprovingly and saying, "Forget it, why are you arguing with your sister?"
"You're the older brother, can't you give in to her?"
"It's such a small thing, why is a man taking it so seriously?"
"Look at you, don't scare your sister."
"If you dare hit her, I'll tell your father!"
Ryan was so angry he almost cried.
Kane quickly explained, "It's nothing, it's nothing! They're just joking around, haha..."
After finishing breakfast, Xu Weiwei returned to her room to work until 8 p.m. Beijing time, when the assembly call sounded over the starship's loudspeaker.
"Attention all personnel, the starship has arrived over Goodell and is preparing to descend."
The soldiers quickly got fully equipped, returned to their posts, and went on high alert.
Xu Weiwei also found something to hold onto.
After about fifty minutes of turbulence, the starship returned to stability. Looking out the porthole, a bright sun hung in the east, below which lay the familiar scenery: rolling mountains, lush green grasslands, and a prominent welcoming pine tree atop the hill…
Xu Weiwei's emotions surged instantly.
She's back; she's back with Ganz.
Hopefully it's not too late.
