Chapter 207: A Gamble That Wasn't Real
Chapter 207: A Gamble That Wasn't Real
The next day, Meilin encountered difficulties in her morning call as expected.
The five little guys all stayed in bed together, which made Meilin wonder: "Did you stay up late playing games together? Why are you all so sleepy?"
"No~", the older children groaned as they got up. Xu Weiwei pulled the quilt over her head, and Ryan was motionless.
In the bathroom, the three of them huddled together to brush their teeth, almost wanting to close their eyes while brushing. If Kane and Ryan were simply sleepy, then Finn was more filled with resentment.
He didn't understand why he, who already knew the plot, had to accompany this group of people to the end. It was finally over and he could finally go back to his bed to sleep, but he was woken up by a strange noise in the middle of the night.
Only then did he remember that Ryan was grinding his teeth. Putting on the forgotten earplugs, Finn clenched his fists and tried to fall asleep again.
The three of them finished washing up almost at the same time. After Finn washed his face, he also woke up completely. From the corner of his eye, he saw Kane take a small towel from the shelf and wet it in warm water. He didn't understand what he was going to do.
Didn’t you just apply moisturizer?
Following him out, Finn finally found out what the handkerchief was used for.
"Aunt Meilin, go call Ryan, and let me do it, Wei'er."
Kane first patted the fluffy "big curl", then pulled the quilt down, and after Xu Weiwei's head appeared, he used one hand to support her chubby little face, covered it with a half-dry towel, and snored in circles, as if he was wiping a railing.
It looks a bit rough, but it is exactly the strength that Xu Weiwei likes, refreshing without hurting the brain.
Before Xu Weiwei opened her eyes, her arms were already stretched out. Kane indulgently pulled her up, lifted the quilt, put on socks, and then carried her to the bathroom.
Finn was stunned. He didn't expect his good friend to have the talent to be a nanny. How many times did he have to practice to be so skilled? Did the Seaforth family not have enough servants? They needed him, a young master, to do the work of serving others.
And he seemed to be enjoying it very much. Maybe he was crazy. No matter how much he spoiled her, she wouldn't be like this. Anyway, he would never spoil a child like this.
When Xu Weiwei came out, Meilin was still struggling with the "silkworm chrysalis". Ryan pressed the corner of the quilt tightly, which was a method he summed up from his long-term experience of staying in bed.
"Master Ryan! If you don't get up I'm going to call the young lady over!"
Ryan was unmoved; he had heard this threat many times.
"Aunt Merlin, let me do it." Kane took over the responsibility again.
Meilin panted tiredly and gave way.
Kane grabbed the quilt and ruthlessly used all his strength to throw it away. The quilt was lifted up and Ryan inside was turned over.
The sky brightened and Ryan's facial features wrinkled together.
The next second, darkness came again. Something wet and cold covered his face. Ryan screamed in excitement and sat up suddenly. After removing the thing from his face, Ryan was completely awake.
"I'm sorry, Wei'er. I used your towel to wipe the dirt. I'll disinfect it for you."
"Humph! You stinky brother! You are the dirty one!"
"Let me do it, young master. You guys go eat first." Meilin took the things from Ryan's hand and took him to wash up.
The adults were almost done eating, and when they saw them coming over, they greeted them, "You're late, did you stay up late last night?"
"No, Ryan was grinding his teeth too loudly and his earplugs were not worn properly." Kane responded quickly.
But we can't let our parents know that they stayed up late watching movies, otherwise it might not just be the electricity that goes out.
"So many people aren't wearing earplugs properly?" Sifos asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Uh..." Kane panicked and thought of what to say anxiously.
"No, I'm the only one. Actually, I forgot to wear it, and Kane reminded me before going to bed. They were all waiting for me." Finn made up the story without changing his expression.
"Oh."
Sifos seemed to believe it and lowered his head to continue cutting the sausages on the plate.
The "Foursome Who Stayed Up Late" all breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, Ryan and Meilin were not here at the moment, otherwise they would not know how to make it go.
"Hey! Who won the bet yesterday? Who guessed the photographer?" The voice came before Ryan arrived.
The four of them immediately became nervous, fearing that he would talk nonsense again. Before he could open his mouth to speak again, Kane explained, "We watched a movie in the lounge yesterday afternoon and made a bet."
"What movie?" Mrs. Wolfhard asked curiously.
"Murder on the Northern Slow Train."
"I've seen this movie. It's a trilogy with three cases in total, a series connected together. Which case are you watching?" asked Adjutant Qiu.
"First case."
"Well, the murderer in that case was indeed the photographer, so who guessed it right?"
"It's not me, I guess it's the flight attendant." Kane said depressedly.
"Not me either, the racer and his sister I guess."
Everyone's eyes turned to Xu Weiwei.
Xu Weiwei smiled sheepishly: "It's me."
"I just guessed randomly. No one else chose this, so I chose it."
"Luck is also part of strength. Our Wei'er has always been lucky." Mrs. Sivers said with a smile.
"Okay, then the four of us will listen to Wei'er all day today. Just give me your orders, Your Majesty." Kane made a bracelet with his right hand, then placed it in front of his chest and performed a standard gentleman's salute.
The adults all laughed.
"It should be you three. I don't think I'm involved in the bet?" Finn reminded.
"You didn't say you wouldn't participate."
Finn looked incredulous. "Need I tell you? I knew the ending in advance."
"Yeah, then you don't count as the one who 'guessed' correctly, so you lose."
Finn: “…”
Just lose, there's no point in arguing any further. Anyway, as far as he knows, Selvie won't ask for anything excessive, so this bet is meaningless.
