Chapter 233: CatastropheJules’ pov

The entire school was turned upside down. Police cars filled the school and the entire students were sent back to their dorms shortly after Malachi’s body was discovered.

I felt chills roll down my spine at the realization that he was indeed dead. I had expected to hear the news of his passing any moment since Blaze had promised me he was gonna do it after I asked him to, but it was still jarring to find out that he was actually dead.

I

I took a look at mine and realized that some students were also releasing posts about the horrendous things they’ve witnessed and experienced in the school. It was a mess.

Almost immediately, Elio’s phone rang and he spent the next five minutes assuring his aunt that he was fine. As he spoke to her, I found myself feeling weird on the inside because I had no one to call me in order to ensure that I was fine in here. This should be Andrian right now but after discovering that all I shared with him was a lie, I never want to hear his voice again.

"That’s my aunt, she’s worried after seeing the mess on the internet." He explained before flopping back at my side. "I’ve asked her not to be worried but she has always been like this.

"Do you believe Malachi did it?" He asked me after a few minutes and I nodded without hesitating.

"Of course. He’s a menace, I’m very certain he did it, and I think everyone was. They all just couldn’t say a thing after the school announced it as a suicide." He explained, lips pursed. "I’m glad he’s dead, even though that sounds vile." He muttered and once again, I couldn’t agree more.

"Anyways... I’ve been wanting to ask you about this. You and Taylor, why did you guys fall out?" He questioned and I instantly grew tense, mind conjuring the scene in the classroom whereby instead of him to defend me, he egged Kai’s instigation against me on. After that day, I had always skipped school, still not sure I could face the students yet. I was glad Elio never asked me about it, because I’d have to lie about it to him and I really don’t lying to people I care about.

I could remember how I lied so much to Blaze and how it ate me up from the inside day by day.

"I just... I’m not trying to pry, it’s just that, you were both close, then you weren’t. And he approached me yesterday at school when you were absent, and..." he began to speak when I remained silent and I leaned forward and cut into his explanation.

"He approached you?"

He nodded. "You know I’m friends with him although we aren’t that close, but he was the one who introduced us to each other. Anyways, I thought he just wanted to say hello, you know? But he accused me of being a horrible person and claimed I stole you from him, then he went to ask me if I really knew who you were. He insinuated you were dangerous and claimed that was why he wasn’t friends with you anymore." He explained and my mouth fell open in disbelief.

"What the fuck?" I echoed, unable to believe my ears right now.

"Obviously, I didn’t believe him. I told him he was being irrational and he kept insisting on being right. He advised me to stop being friends with you if I didn’t want to get dragged into your mess. That hadn’t even made a lick of sense to me, and I ended up asking him to leave me be." Elio continued with an eyeroll.

"So, that was why I decided to ask you about your friendship with him. Perhaps you guys ended on a bad note, which is why he’s painting you in a bad image. I’ve witnessed friendship fallouts that’s usually like this, so I don’t know, I guess I just wanted to know." He shrugged at the end of his sentence and I kept staring straight ahead before rolling off the bed.

"That’s it. I’m gonna confront him at this point." I announced, pushing my hair out of my face while trying to suppress the anger swirling within my chest.

Elio’s eyes widened, and then he rolled out of the bed.

"Are you sure?" He asked, watching as I slipped into my shoes.

"I’ve had enough. After we fell out, I avoided doing this but now I can’t ignore this any longer." I explained as I rose to my feet and slipped my phone into my pocket.

He instantly offered to come with me. I declined but after he kept insisting, I ended up telling him he could come if he wanted.

As we exited his room, his roommate was in the kitchen and we waved at him before leaving. Once in the front of his door, he scrolled through his phone and clicked his tongue.

"All the posts relating to Malachi, the death of Nick and any post relating to this school, have all been deleted. I knew the school was gonna bring those posts as soon as they got wind of it. Before the end of today; they’d put out a statement assuring the public that it had all been a little misunderstanding. That’s how this school is still standing till date."
